A couple of years ago, I was so excited about the goals I set for the year
And I wanted to be sure I held myself accountable for making them happen
So I instituted what I called Sunday accountability journaling.
Each week, on Sunday, I sit down and reflect on my goals
And record all the progress I made, no matter how small.
This helps me see that I AM moving forward,
Especially on those days when I feel like I’m stuck.
It also helps me keep my wins top of my mind,
Making celebration so much easier and more abundant.
But lately I’ve felt stuck
Like this practice isn’t quite doing it for me anymore.
Like I’m just going through the motions and not getting as much out of it.
So you know what I did?
I changed it up!
I used my Sunday accountability journaling to revisit my goals and remember my why.
Why was each goal important to me?
Is each goal still relevant and meaningful?
And the best part:
What is the next step I need to take this week to move forward?
Those items got put on my weekly habit tracker and my must-do list.
And I’ll be holding myself accountable for getting them done.
If your journaling practice - or any other habit - is feeling stale
It’s time to do something about it.
Don’t just do the thing to check off the boxes.
Redefine your goals. Adjust your direction. Find a new way to move forward.
It will make all the difference.
Use these prompts as written or as inspiration to uncover what you need in your life this week. And know that I’m always here to support you and answer questions you have along the way!
What are your most important habits?
Why are they important? What do they do for you?
Are you practicing these habits mindfully? Or are you going through the motions?
What habits are no longer serving you the way you’ve been doing them?
What shifts can you make to give them renewed meaning?
One Journaling Idea I Love:
Daily Printable Page
Do you have journal prompts that you keep coming back to every day? For the last couple of years I’ve used a set of intention-setting prompts just about every morning. And one morning I had a thought, “It sure would be easier to put these on a printable page so I didn’t have to keep writing the prompts out in my journal.”
So I did!
I created a printable page that I can use every day. Mine has been through several iterations, but right now contains my schedule for the day, a brief to-do list, and six prompts to help me remember what’s important to me and how I’m going to keep working toward my goals.
Not only does it save me time in the mornings, I’m able to keep my printable on a clipboard above my desk so the answers stay in front of me throughout the day so I can remember to take action on them!
(Want some help creating a page like this for yourself? This is one of my favorite services I provide to my clients!)

Happy Journaling!
Love the idea of probing your habits to ask if they are done mindfully or mindlessly. Too often we get stuck in the doing/routine without pausing to ask why!
