I have a very long history of doing all the things. Of saying yes. Of wearing myself out trying to make others happy.
And while that’s open doors of opportunity and allowed me to do some interesting and amazing things, it usually just leaves me feeling one way:
Tired.
You know that bone weary tiredness, where you need six naps before noon and still don’t think you’ll make it through the day.
That tiredness that’s coming from deep down in your soul.
It’s no way to live. And I know I’m not alone in feeling that way.
Journaling helps.
Journaling gives me a place to work through what’s weighing on me. To look objectively at what I’ve said yes to intentionally and what is yes by default. To consider which of my yeses are really nos and need to be adjusted.
Journaling gives me a way to restore my soul. To write about the good things, the uplifting things, my hopes, my dreams, my values.
Journaling helps me live in a way that’s aligned. Every time I start to stray a bit from my purpose, my journal is there to pull me back where I need to be.
Journaling reminds me that it’s okay to rest, to listen to my body and soul and give myself the kind of rest I need. (Yesterday’s rest came in the form of reading for hours and a long nap in my hammock.)
My friend, you are valuable and special and we all need you to take care of you. Because you always shine brighter when you do.
May your journaling help you care for yourself. 💛
Doing the work is easier when we do it together.
Each week in our Journaling for Growth membership community, we support and strengthen each other on our journeys.
Through both solo reflection and the opportunity to share and learn in community, we are learning deeper, faster, and stronger than we can on our own.
We hold space for each other to do the work of learning and loving who we are.
This September, we’re focusing on learning and growth.
And if you’re ready to go on this journey, we’re here to walk you home. 💛
This Week’s Journal Prompts:
Use these prompts as written or as inspiration to uncover what you need in your life this week. And know that I’m always here to support you and answer questions you have along the way!
Take a look at what’s filling your calendar. Is everything on there an intentional yes? Or are there some things you can and should say no to?
When making a decision, how do you decide if it’s a yes or a no?
How do you ensure you’re getting the rest you need?
What does taking a break look like for you?
Happy Journaling!
This most definitely resonates! A good part of my time and energy these days goes to sifting, clearing out, making choices about what stays in my life and what goes, about what gets my attention and what can just be allowed to pass me by.
