I’ve always thought of journaling as a solitary activity.
Recently my eyes were opened to the benefits of journaling together.
A connection of mine on LinkedIn told me that she wanted to journal but was having a hard time setting aside the time for herself. “If I had a Zoom call where I was accountable for being there, I’d do it.”
So we gave it a go! A few weeks ago a handful of us met over Zoom each weekday morning from 8-8:30 to start our day off journaling together.
I provided some journaling instruction and journal prompts. Attendees immersed themselves in their writing. And in between writing periods we shared our experiences. Not so much what we wrote in our journals, but what came up for us. What we learned. What we realized. What we wanted for ourselves.
By the end of the week, I was convinced of the power of journaling together. We quickly built camaraderie, trusting that we were safe to share what came up as we wrote. And sharing our experiences made our journaling even richer.
So we’re going to keep it going! We’ll be running two journaling groups in April:
$100 for the month - Sessions will be held Monday-Thursday. Come every day or as often as you like!
"It always seems easier to keep commitments to others and not to ourselves. After journaling in a group setting with Amanda and others for only five days, my life has truly changed. With tears in my eyes as I’m writing this, I can honestly say by just committing to myself & showing up to journal regardless of what that looks like for me each day, I’m a better version of myself. I can’t wait to participate in the new extended version of this program!"

Weekly Journal Prompts:
Use these prompts as written or as inspiration to uncover what you need in your life this week.
Write about a time you started a new habit.
What was it?
Why was developing this habit important to you?
How did you motivate yourself to get started? And continue?
How did you hold yourself accountable?
Who supported you?
What did that support look like?
What did you learn from this process that you can apply to another habit you want to develop?
What is a new habit you would like to adopt?
One Journaling Idea I Love:
The One Liner. Write one sentence (or short paragraph) each day, leaving the rest of the page blank. The next year go back and write on the corresponding page. Capture several years in one book and see at a glance your progression over time.
There are so many exciting ways to approach this: what you learned, the best part of your day, what you’re grateful for, most important thing that happened, a great conversation you had. I want to do this with dinners we eat - imagine how easy that would make meal planning! I’m okay with eating the same meal every year on the same date!
