Making room for more
Four years ago, I started writing about journaling on LinkedIn.
I had made it my career goal to figure out the platform because I heard it was a place of opportunity. I thought that somehow I’d end up with a new job.
Instead, I quickly learned that it was a place of community, of learning. And I wanted to be able to contribute something of my own to the learning economy there.
But I wasn’t sure what that would be.
So I figured I’d write about journaling for three or four days, maybe stretch it out to a week, and that’d buy me some time to figure out what I really wanted to talk about.
I had no idea how deeply it’d resonate with people.
I had no idea how many people I would get to help over the next four years, through my writing, through teaching workshops, through running different journaling groups.
It’s been the absolute most amazing thing I’ve done in a long time.
When I left my 9-5 in November, the obvious path for me, I thought, was to go all in on my journaling business. Teach more workshops. Grow my community. Keep building.
And one day I realized it no longer felt aligned to me.
Sure, I still love journaling and find it an essential tool and practice. And I absolutely LOVE helping others catch the magic of journaling.
But I don’t want journaling to be my only thing.
There are so many other things I also love and believe in.
I can speak just as passionately about gardening or parenting teenagers or basketmaking as I can about journaling. I can talk about learning or books or energy work.
I’m ready to tell more stories.
I’m ready to step into the other parts of me.
I’m not saying goodbye to journaling completely - I’m going to keep writing and sharing and teaching for as long as it’s fun for me.
I am making room for more.
I don’t know what that more looks like yet, but I’m excited it’ll have a place when the Universe is ready to send it my way.
Thank you for your incredible support over the last few years. I hope you’ll stick with me as we discover what’s next.

This is my ongoing question as I seek to be a stronger resource for you. What do you need? What would help you strengthen your journaling practice? What’s standing between you and that practice you know will move your life forward?
