Slowing down
Happy Slowtober, my friend.
If you’ve not yet heard, Slowtober is an opportunity to slow down.
To evaluate what’s happening in our lives.
To take stock of how they’re going.
Slowtober provides us a chance to look at everything on our plate
And choose whether we like what we see
Or if it’s time to start saying no.
Slowtober invites us to take care of ourselves
To be more intentional about our sleep,
Our movement, our food, our information intake.
Slowtober reminds us to breathe.
To be more mindful.
To feel awe.
Slowtober encourages us to spend more time doing things we love
And less time feeling guilty because we’re not fueling our souls.
To allow ourselves to put ourselves first - at least in moments.
My Slowtober so far has been filled with lots of journaling,
Lots of reading, some long walks.
More time by myself.
I’ve shifted my pace so I’m more Turtle, less Rabbit.
I’m not perfect at Slowtober (yet)
I am embracing the idea that this is about incremental progress.
A little bit at a time.
Being a little more mindful today than I was yesterday.
Being a little kinder to myself than I was yesterday.
Taking better care of me than I did yesterday.
My hope is that Slowtober can roll into Slowvember
Which will then become Slowcember
So that I can bring slow into the New Year.
If you’re feeling the Q4 push,
The need to hustle and rush and do
And this feels out of alignment with who you want to be,
I invite you to embrace Slowtober with me.
To give yourself a little more space
To give yourself a little more time
To give yourself a little more kindness and compassion
Because you deserve it.

And in this true spirit of Slowtober,
I am putting this Newsletter on pause.
I’ll be reevaluating the direction I want to take it
Listening to my intuition about what’s next for
Good Things Come to Those Who Journal.
