If a magic genie appeared right now, offering to grant you a wish -
And you could only wish for what your soul is yearning for,
Would you know? Would you be able to make your wish?
It’s so easy to live our lives in the world of hustle and bustle
To keep ourselves busy all the time.
It’s so easy to lose sight of what matters
And the difference between what we want
And what we think we should want
And what others want for us.
But when it’s quiet, it can sneak up on us -
That feeling of what’s most important
Of what we truly yearn for.
And if we’re living that life,
It’s a peaceful feeling.
And if we’re not,
It’s not.
So how can we keep present?
How can we know and listen to those yearnings?
How can we know we’re on the right path?
Maintaining a regular practice of reflection,
Journaling every morning,
Helps me to stay true to myself.
Helps to me know who I am,
What I yearn for
And helps me figure out how I’ll make it happen.
Journaling is critical -
It’s how and when I can assess how I’m feeling
Determine how I want to show up that day
And what I need so I can be my best.
It’s how I find answers
And get clarity
So when that magic genie comes, I’ll know my wish.
It doesn’t take long,
Even a few minutes a day does the trick.
Surely you can find a few minutes a day, can’t you?
Use these prompts as written or as inspiration to uncover what you need in your life this week. And know that I’m always here to support you and answer questions you have along the way!
What is my soul yearning for?
What do I get really excited about?
What values are most important to me?
Where do I most feel at peace?
What am I most looking forward to in the future?
What is my purpose?
One Journaling Idea I Love:
Habit Trackers
This year I’ve started incorporating habit trackers into my journaling.
I use mine to track small habits that I’ve identified that will help me get to my goals.
And every day I do that habit, I get to put a check mark on my tracker.
It’s amazing how powerful it can be, this simple tool, in helping me stay motivated to build these solid habits.
I’m tracking a mixture of big and small actions -
Getting outside
Moving my body
Reading 20 minutes
Doing an outreach activity to move my business forward
Contacting a friend daily
Asking for help
And I’m learning the better I track these habits, the easier they are to do.
You can put your habit tracker in your journal, bullet journal style.
Or you could keep it somewhere you’ll see on the regular.
(Mine lives on a clipboard above my desk so I can revisit it multiple times a day.)
