You know that I’m a huge believer in journaling because of the benefits it brings.
And it brings me so much joy to share journaling with others.
It took me a long time to get here, to this point where I was ready to start sharing because I assumed, falsely, that because journaling comes intuitively to me that it must also come intuitively to everyone else.
I’ve learned there’s a lot of folks out there who are journaling because they feel like they should - maybe a coach or a therapist have suggested it, or they look at people they admire and those people have recommended journaling.
And even though they’re doing it, they don’t necessarily understand why. Or how.
One woman I spoke with recently told me that her coach requires her to journal. And the instruction she gave her was “journal three full pages every day” with no further explanation.
Lots of folks I know are using the Five Minute Journal or a similar product - a structured journal where the format is the same every day. Filling in the blanks makes a simple and gentle way to start journaling, but can stop us from receiving the full benefits journaling provides.
If we don’t understand why we are journaling - what we can get out of it and how is best for us - we’re missing out on the full benefits of journaling.
One of my favorite parts of teaching about journaling is helping each client I work with discover what journaling can do for them as they learn how they best like to journal. What works best for them.
Because when we can create for ourselves a flexible and robust journaling practice, we can use it to design and live a life we don’t want a vacation from. One that is exactly what we need.
If you’re developing your journaling practice and want to be sure you’re getting the most out of it, I invite you to join me on Tuesday evening (11/15) at 7 pm Eastern.
We’ll be talking about Five Hidden Dangers of Journaling the Wrong Way.
We’ll look at what not to do and why as we look to engineer your journaling practice.

Weekly Journal Prompts:
Use these prompts as written or as inspiration to uncover what you need in your life this week. And know that I’m always here to support you and answer questions you have along the way!
What does your current journaling practice look like?
What does it do for you? What benefits are you seeing?
What do you need out of your practice that you are NOT yet getting?
What can you change to bring those benefits to your life?
What support do you need to improve your journaling?
How can you celebrate yourself for the work you’re doing inside the pages of your journal?
One Journaling Idea I Love:
5-4-3-2-1
This exercise can be done for both work and personal goals.
Create five rows on a page of your journal:
Label them 5 years, 4 months, 3 weeks, 2 days, 1 hour
Under each row heading, list your goals for that period of time. Include both things you’re currently working on and things that you’d like to work toward.
Pick one from each row to really focus on.
For your long-term goals, consider how to map them out and hold yourself accountable for working toward them.
For your shorter-term goals, consider if they’re moving you toward your long-term goals, if they’re bringing you satisfaction, and get them done!
Allow yourself to stay focused on those goals you’ve prioritized until you’ve reached them. And celebrate yourself for the steps you make along the way!

What is Better Me in 2023? So glad you asked!
Better Me in 2023 is a journaling adventure for busy go-getters - the givers, the figure-it-outers, the all-the-things-doers.
From the outside, it looks like a facilitated journaling group.
On the inside it's a program that brings intention, introspection, and connection to participants.
Better Me is designed to help participants:
Identify opportunities for growth and change
Build habits to help us succeed
Set goals and create plans for taking action
Overcome obstacles and limiting beliefs
Recognize and celebrate our accomplishments
Become our own accountability partners so our growth is lasting and sustainable
And along the way, we'll find clarity, decrease anxiety, forge connections with fellow travelers, and use journaling to become the versions of ourselves we've always wanted to be.
