Such a great post, Amanda!

When I was a child, we always had to try a small spoonful of everything that was on the dinner table. 'But I don't LIKE it!' I would say, when a spoonful of spinach/cucumber/that horrid sauce I detested arrived on my plate. 'You didn't like it last time, but today you might!' would be the reply.

Well, trying, trying and trying something again, as it turns out, DID work for me! There is *almost* nothing that I choose not to eat as an adult, and there is *absolutely* nothing that I won't try!

Thank you for another great read, Amanda, and for making me think back to how those lovely parents of mine stretched my culinary horizons!

I still laugh about the time, about 8 years ago, when I was recently divorced and my kids were with their dad for Easter. I went to eat with some friends who had young children. Their family rule was that you have to eat your vegetables before you put anything else on your plate.

The vegetable of the day was peas. Peas are, if not on the bottom of the list for me, they're pretty close. I'd never ever chose to eat peas on purpose. But there I was, eating dinner with children who were expected to eat their peas before they put anything else on their plate.

I couldn't very well dig in to the good stuff while they choked down peas, could I?

When in Rome, right? I ate my peas. And I lived to tell the tale.

And, like I tell my children, "You don't have to like it, but you do have to eat it." 😂

Oh, that's priceless! Well done with those horrid peas and for setting such an excellent example! 🤣
